Hong Kong to get 10 Gbps fixed broadband

Service provider HKT has just announced that it is introducing a new 10 Gbps service, with a full commercial launch in Q3 this year. At that point it will be available to around 80% of Hong Kong households (who are all covered by the current FTTH network). This should be a great fit with the new 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard, especially in its MIMO-enhanced configurations.

HKT's announcement, taking advantage of the territory's high density housing makes even South Korea look like a laggard.
