Microsoft Research finds more white space capacity indoors
In a collaboration with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, to study the availability of TV white space spectrum inside buildings, Microsoft Research found that 70% of UHF channels were available indoors compared to 50% outside. This is good news for those seeking solutions to bandwidth hungry applications such as home networks carrying HD and (in future) 4k video.
The results were based on an extensive campaign of measurements, indoor and outdoor, in over 30 locations across Hong Kong.
